Cobb Woman’s Club Surpasses Santa’s Expectations

The Cobb Woman’s Club received a call from Santa Claus in October. Santa explained that he could not possibly fill all of the orders for Christmas and hoped he could count on the Cobb Woman’s Club to help fill a special need in the form of “Stocking FULL of Christmas – Send One, Give One Campaign”.  The goal was to fill 100 stocking for troops overseas and 100 for veterans at the Atlanta Veteran’s Hospital.

Cobb Woman’s Club jumped at the chance to help Santa out.  They solicited donations, took in donated items of Christmas decorations, candy, cards and much more. The club surpassed its goal of 100 each and sent 160 stockings to troops overseas and 102 stockings to the veteran’s hospital.  The club also gathered up books and such and donated them to the veteran’s hospital as well.  The ladies gathered friends and family to help stuff the stocking on 2 separate occasions as the troops stockings had to be mailed in early November.  We have gotten word back that shipments that were sent out to the troops were received the day before Christmas and were shared with service personnel from all parts of the armed forces.

You may have also seen the Cobb Woman’s Club elves helping to decorate a tree in Kennesaw. Unfortunately, we picked one of the coldest and breeziest days of the year to decorate. The tree was decorated in red, white and blue, to honor the service personnel serving overseas. Christmas balls had names of service personnel serving overseas and yellow ribbons also adorned the tree.  Cobb Woman’s Club won “Best Theme” award for carrying out the theme all through out the decorations. They received a trophy and small Norfolk Pine.

No rest in the New Year – As we understand Santa has given the Easter Bunny the phone number for Cobb Woman’s Club for help in 2005.
