The GFWC/GaFWC Milledgeville Junior Woman’s Club has made literacy a priority in their community. MJWC received a grant from the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs and the Procter & Gamble Company to supply the Mary Vinson Library with youth oriented literacy videos and books. This donation will be used by the new staff tutor recently hired by the library to help children with their reading and comprehension skills.
The club also made a monetary donation to support the purchase of books for the library’s annual summer reading program which draws over 400 children each year from the area. The donation will be used to purchase circus themed books for the summer program.
